Peewee Moore & the
Awful Dreadful Snakes -
The leaving side of gone
(2010) (Self Released)
I missed this tremendous album when
it was first released but it is more than worthy of mention, if 5 years late!
This is 'real country' music that is often also referred to as 'outlaw country'
and in virtually every way is a classic of the genre. The songwriting is
excellent , Peewee's vocals are as emotion drenched, depending on the songs
requirements, as the new kids on the block such as Cale Tyson and Sturgill
Simpson and his band is excellent, as are the arrangements. There is nothing
extraneous, just twelve thematically varied examples of twangy classic country
music and an edgy atmosphere that Waylon, Willie, et al would be highly
appreciative of.
Even better news is that there is an apparently excellent 2012 sophomore release 'Making sure the story's being told' that I'm told is at least this tremendous albums equal!
Still more great news is that he will have another new album out sometime around July!
