David Crosby – Croz
A nicely flowing album that is a throw back to the slightly esoteric leanings of the best of 1970s rootsy soft rock. Decent songs, excellent vocals and production on an album that occasionally has a slight jazzy echo but also goes some way to explaining what made the Byrds and C,S & N so great. Solo, all are talented, but if ever there was a case of ‘The whole being greater than the sum of it’s parts’ it’s in those various lineups! This is a good album though.

The Black Feathers – Strangers we meet (e.p)
Beautifully sung and played duo album with gorgeous harmonies and some very good songs, most of which have a folksy feel, with a little ‘Americana’ in the mix. It doesn’t matter whether Sian Chandler or Ray Hughes takes the lead, both are excellent vocalists.

Aggieland – You make my day
Hailing from the Netherlands Aggie de Kruijfi and Stefan Jankowski are a talented pair of musicians with Aggie possessing beautiful vocals and Stefan being an exceptional guitarist. Together they form a formidable duo on this their third album with Aggie writing the highly personal lyrics and Stefan putting them to music. Despite having a gentle sound musically some of the lyrics are powerful and sometimes thought provoking ensuring this recording is well worth spending time with if your preference is for the mellow side of the roots music genre.
